Description
Tim & Barry have been documenting underground culture for 22 years, playing an integral role in developing the aesthetics of grime, as well as championing everything from Chicago Footwork to Portuguese Batida.
Woosh is their first solo exhibition. In typical Tim & Barry style they have decided to highlight the contemporary rather than look to their past. As such this is a collection of images taken during time spent with the UK Drill community over the last 6 years. These artists have been at the forefront of one of the most successful musical exports the UK has seen for years - whilst dealing with a high level of demonisation from both press and police. Having forged close relationships with artists, producers and managers, Tim & Barry have had unprecedented access to an often mis-represented world, shooting images that highlight both the expected themes of surveillance, censorship and criminality - but also showcasing the humour, passion and creativity that has taken the scene to such international success. With images covering everything from chart star Headie One to Drill pioneers 67 to some of the hungry young artists coming up in 2022, Woosh stands as a love letter to a scene that has defeated the odds.
