Three-colour screen print on plywood
70cm x 100cm
Edition of 22
Description
This screen print is based on a photography taken by myself at the 2003 Gulf War protests in London, right outside the Houses of Parliament. I trust you’ve noticed the extra smiley faces on Big Ben. The team gave the cardboard works out to use as placards, Socialist Workers’ Party style. 3D from Massive Attack carried one which was seen as an endorsement from the celebrity world at the time; since then the moment has taken a life of its own and to this day I have people impressing upon me with complete conviction that Banksy and Robert del Naja are one and the same. Banksy made a Bomb Hugger and a Happy Choppers design too, all on cardboard, and the protest looked great – plus all the better for not being plastered with the SWP.
This is available in an edition of 22 at 70cm wide by 100cm high, and an edition of 88 at 50cm wide by 70cm high. I’ve signed, numbered and branded all of them plus there are fittings and art twine on the back so you can hang it straight away.
