Description
A Man you Can Lean On Framed, from the original 1960s edition of 100. Sister Corita Kent, the LA screen printing nun, combined pop art with both activist and spiritual themes in totally unique and inspiring artwork. This is from 1968. Nun Corita Kent (1918-1986) is a talismanic figure in the screen print world. During the 1960s her distinct works of outsider art combined pop art, spirituality and protest. Warhol himself attended her shows, but elements within the religious establishment unfortunately labelled it ‘sinister’. A gallery dedicated to her was opened in Los Angeles during 2019.
